From the makers:
Hope this email finds you well. You are lucky because you are on the new ROBOT ACADEMY FILMS mailing list and even luckier because you will be the first to find out information on our first production ONE NINE NINE FOUR: A documentary on the birth, growth and explosion of punk rock in the 90’s.
My name is Jai Al-Attas and i am the writer and director of this film. My friend Matt Wardle is producing it and he is in the next room watching Entourage Season 3(part 1). We are both 22 year olds from Australia, myself from Sydney and Matt from Perth. We are currently in Los Angeles staying with our new best friend Tim Armstrong who has saved us from the streets(we ran out of money) and finishing up shooting for the film tomorrow with Fletcher from Pennywise.
Today we found out that Spin.com had run a news article on our film that you can read here. However it shows a picture of Green Day, but we have not yet interviewed Green Day for the film(we hung out with Mike Dirnt though and he was a super nice guy). Spin got the news from Punknews.org and Absolutepunk.net got it from Spin. We were stoked although we don’t know anyone at spin and don’t have a publicist. Like the film isn’t even edited yet. Editing begins in 2 weeks when i get back to Sydney and move back in with my parents(America is expensive).
So here attached is a list of all the people that we have interviewed and also info on the film. Our plan is to premiere it in January 2008 at Park City, Utah – hopefully Sundance or Slamdance accepts it. Right now we haven’t even spoken to distributors or anything like that we just want to make a great film first 100% DIY and then we will see where it goes from there.
